How much does a Karabakh trip cost? A real breakdown
What a Karabakh trip actually costs from Baku: the tour price, what it covers, what it does not, and the extras worth budgeting for before you book.
Most Karabakh travel writing tells you the place is worth seeing and stops there. This one answers the question people actually ask first: what does it cost, and what am I getting for it?
The short answer
Our group departures are priced per person, published up front, and do not change with negotiation:

Routes longer than two days run as private departures rather than scheduled group ones. So we quote the three-day trip on your dates and party size instead of publishing a figure. Ask on WhatsApp and we reply with the price.
That is the figure you pay for the tour itself. Below is what sits inside it, what sits outside it, and what else you might reasonably spend.
What the price covers
For the one-day trip, the 54 € includes the round-trip transfer from Baku, a local driver-guide who stays with the group all day, your Karabakh entry permit filed before you arrive, and bottled water.
The two- and three-day versions include the transfers, the driver-guide, and accommodation, one night on the two-day trip, two nights on the three-day. The Karabakh entry permit is included on every format.
The single biggest cost this removes is the one people underestimate: getting there at all. Shusha is a long mountain drive west of Baku, not a day-trip suburb. Doing it independently means either a rental car and fuel for a full day in each direction, or arranging a driver yourself.
What it does not cover
We would rather you know this before booking than discover it on the road.
- Meals. Not included on any format. On the multi-day trips, most meals are your own.
- Entrance fees, where they apply at individual sites.
- Personal expenses, souvenirs, drinks, anything optional.
- Optional activities on the two- and three-day trips.
What to budget on top
Honest answer: we do not publish a food or entrance-fee estimate, because those move, and a number that is stale by the time you read it is worse than no number. What we can tell you is the shape of it, meals across a day out, occasional entrance fees, and whatever you spend on yourself. Ask us when you enquire and we will give you the current picture rather than a figure written months ago.
Budget separately for your travel to Azerbaijan itself, your accommodation in Baku either side of the trip, and any visa or entry requirements that apply to your nationality.
Why the price is published at all
Plenty of operators in this region quote on request. We stopped doing that, for a simple reason: a price you cannot see is a price you cannot compare, and most people would rather leave a page than start a negotiation to find out whether something is affordable.
Publishing it also keeps us honest. The figure on the tour card is the figure in the confirmation.
Group and private trips are different products
Everything above is the group rate. A private departure (your own vehicle, your own driver-guide, your own pace) costs more, and the per-person price falls as your party grows, because the vehicle and guide are a fixed cost shared between you.
We show private pricing as an estimate rather than a rate card, because the real number depends on your dates, route and accommodation. Ask and we will quote properly.
Is it good value?
That depends what you compare it to. A one-day trip at 54 € buys you a full day's transport across a long mountain route, a guide who knows the ground, and the planning done for you. Doing it yourself is not free. It is a rental car, fuel, a full day of your own driving, and the planning on your shoulders.
What it is genuinely not is a cheap seat on a large coach. Our departures run as a private or small group of one to seven people, which is a different product at a different price.
Before you book
Two practical points.
Karabakh travel runs through an organised framework rather than as a spontaneous road trip, so give yourself lead time. If your dates are tight, tell us early rather than late.
And check the season. The one-day trip is best from May to October, with the clearest views in early autumn. Spring blossom and golden autumn are the standout windows for the longer formats.
